City of Portofino: First to Arrive

The Deerfield family recently made plans to meet up at the beautiful Park Place Restaurant, located in the Valencia neighborhood of Portofino. It had been a while since we all got together and enjoyed something a little more upscale than our usual pizza-and-a-movie routine. The only downside to everyone in the family being freelancers? Crazy schedules. I arrived early—maybe a little too early—and found myself facing my social anxiety as I chatted with the wait staff while waiting for the rest of the family to show up.

I kept stealing glances at my phone, hoping to see an “I’m here!” message from any of them. Fortunately, the staff was incredibly kind and didn’t mind me lingering. In the end, the night turned out to be fantastic, and it was great to spend time with the family in such a lovely setting.
